Dawn Reese Industry Interview
w/ Dick Van Patten, Hollywood
*. Star of .Eight Is Enough. *
This is a wonderful, kind, gentle person. I grew up watching Eight Is Enough, the popular show Mr. Van Patten starred in, and really loved the program. Mr. Van Patten has a book out for Children and their Parents on how to Break into Showbiz. I had a chat with him on what he is doing these days. He is promoting a new line of Pet Food called Natural Balance, Ulta Premium Dog and Cat Food, which you can buy at any of the 500 PetCo Stores around the USA. It was Great to see him light up talking about his products. I hope all you pet owners will take a real look at his Line.
DR: Mr. Van Patten. You must love Pets so much, that you came up with this idea and this awesome product. Can you tell me more about Natural Balance?
DVP: A combination of me and my Friend Joey Herrick, are both in Showbiz. I am the Actor and he is the Musician, and we both worked together on the John Davidson show when that was on. We got this idea together and we had this lady veterinarian try making a food that has nothing bad in it, only Good things. This lady said Yes, and she did. Its going through the Roof, and it has only been in California for a year now. We are going National with Petco Stores all over the country.
DR: How many Pets do you have?
DVP: I only have three cats (giving his famous Van Patten smile). I love BOTH cats and dogs.
DR: Do you have any Non Profit Organizations you're involved in?
DVP: Oh yes. We give all the different foods to Animal Charity, and this food is sold exclusively to LA Zoo and San Diego Zoo, and Marine Land. The famous Sigfreid & Roy use our foods for their Lions and Tigers in Las Vegas.
DR: That is so interesting. This lets people know its a good product for their Pet as well. Time for a talent field question, as my partner Mark (mgr. at PAPRO) & I work with so many kids. Can you say something from the Heart on this business for Talent to understand why they must keep going for their Dream?
DVP: Well Dawn There's a lot of Luck involved in making it in Entertainment. You always have to expect the Worst to happen, and just maybe something other than the worst case scenario may turn up. There's NO guarantees in ShowBiz.
DR: Do you have a book out regarding the very exciting Show Business??
DVP: Yes. I wrote a book that is done very much matter of factly on how to get your child into ShowBiz.
DR: It has been my pleasure, Mr. Van Patten. I would love to send more people your way for your product and your book. I will serve your Dog Food to my poodle. I look forward to sending you Pre-Grammy Party information from Lynn Spillane for Joey, since he is a fine Musician. I look very forward to talking to you again.
DVP: Thank you, Dawn.
DR: Until next time, this is Dawn Reese. Reporting from Dawn 'til Dusk, simply because that's me! That is why I call myself The Winning Edge. Pageant Gals really need to bring Headshots and Demos to Pageants. Not leave them at home. This is so Important. If anyone is interested in the Demo Tape of the World Championships of Performing Arts, send $5 for postage. I can send it to you, and you will see this Awesome Event in Hollywood, California.
